M. Nasser, is considered one of the finest actors from India. No actor has exerted such profound nuances in etching roles of different kinds, in varied genres, along with stalwart actors and able to be associated with a range of directors; without ever compromising his talent or integrity as Nasser has. An actor, producer, writer, director, lyricist, and singer Nasser has appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English films. He is proficient in Urdu, English, Hindi, Arabic, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
He has rightfully been awarded with the following awards:
3rd Best Film: Avathaaram [Director] (1995)
Nandi Award for his acting performance in the Telugu film ‘Chanti’.
Best Actor award from Tamilnadu Government for the film ‘Aavaaram Poo’.
Best Villain award from Tamilnadu Government for the film ‘Thamizh’.
Best Supporting Actor award from Tamilnadu Government for the film ‘Em Magan’.
Best Villain award from Andhra Pradesh Government for the film ‘Chanti’.
He has been awarded the following titles as well:
“Kalaimamani” Title from Tamilnadu Government.
“Kalaichelvan” Title from South Indian Actors Association.
Nasser was born on 5 March 1958 to Mehaboob Basha and Mumtaz Beghum as Mehaboob Nasser, in an interior village called Meylerippakkam, in Chengalpattu district, Tamilnadu. He studied in St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School (Chengalpattu). He moved to Chennai (then Madras) after school, where he finished his pre-degree at Madras Christian College. At Madras Christian College, he was an active member of the Dramatic Society. Later for a brief time, he was in the Indian Air Force.
He trained in two acting schools: The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce’s Film Institute and the Tamil Nadu Institute for Film and Television Technology. He passed with gold medals from both the institutes.
