Canon Workshop

Canon  has conducted a two day workshop (September 6-7, 2010) at Ramanaidu Film School, where they displayed their new products and covered several subjects on photography.

On the first day, the founder and Director of Ambitions4 Photography Academy Mr. KL. Raja Ponsing shared his experiences and gave tips about photography. He spoke in length about both the art and technical the aspects of photography . In the first semester we learned about photo composition and lighting.  It was refreshing to hear the same from Mr. Ponsing in a different style with some practical experiences.

I started writing notes, and I ended up filling two pages (it might have been more than 4 or 5 for the rest). Creative aspects such as “Crop to communicate,” and creative use of B-shutter was extremely useful.

Additionally he explained about all the different range of Canon cameras and screened two videos of EOS 5D Mark II. The quality of 5D is excellent. If we have to take one thing home from first day’s session then it is Canon EOS 5D Mark II, which is an excellent camera for filmmakers. Of course it is still in experimental stage, but the features and output is amazing.

The fun part was that it was Vinayak’s (our classmate) birthday, so we shot a few quick photographs and printed from the Canon printer, which the Sales team had brought for display.

On the second day, Canon screened few videos related to camcorders available in the market. Canon also conducted a photo contest for RFS students. We, students participated with enthusiasm and came up with several creative pictures, and the winners have been awarded with Canon products.
